The Meeple Movers of Mansfield are an open and welcoming group of board gamers.
What do we do at meetings?
We mostly table games and chat. Feel free to set up your own games or join in a game that somebody else is setting up. We sometimes run events such as swap and sell or competition days.
Absolutely not, you are free to come and go as you wish. If you want to stick around the whole time, you are more than welcome. If you can only stay for a short time, that is cool too.
Does it cost anything?
Usually we ask for £5 for the day. This is split between supporting charities and running costs for the group such as room hire, expanding the shared games library and advertising our group. If you cannot pay for any reason, you are still welcome to stay, no questions asked. Just tell your friends about us.
I don't carry cash with me, how to I support the sessions
That is cool, we got you covered. If you use PayPal, we have a link here. If you have a banking app, you can also ask to pay via that.
Are games provided or do I need to bring my own?
Our visitors and volunteers often bring their own games. If you don't have any of your own games, we can get you involved in a game that is being set up. You can borrow games from our volunteers (and other visitors with their permission), we only ask that any borrowed games are treated with care and all pieces returned. We also have a growing games library which is owned by the group as a whole.
Where do I keep up to date?
We will announce meetings, events, charity donations and cancellations on our Howbout group and Facebook page
What is a Meeple
So glad you asked. A Meeple (short for 'my people') is another word for anything that represents your character(s) in a board game. A Meeple often refers to a person shaped piece, but can just as easily be a monopoly piece, chess piece, a pebble, or a bit of pocket fluff. Anything can be a Meeple as long as it fits within the board spaces and doesn't move by itself. Your cat would make a terrible Meeple. I'm sorry.
